That said, “better” still depends on the full system. High-duty hoisting requires not only rated torque, but also verified thermal capacity, correct friction material, predictable response time, and reliable fail-safe behavior. Electro-hydraulic disc brakes are commonly chosen when hoist speed is higher, stopping frequency is significant, or space constraints favor a disc layout.

To avoid premature wear or inconsistent holding, ensure correct installation alignment, proper disc thickness and surface condition, and a maintenance plan for pad wear and air gap control. For critical lifts, consider redundancy requirements and applicable crane standards.
