En termes simples, il influence fortement le couple de freinage. Si \u00b5 est inf\u00e9rieur \u00e0 ce qui est attendu, le frein peut ne pas maintenir une charge ou s\u2019arr\u00eater dans les limites requises. Si \u00b5 est sup\u00e9rieur, le freinage peut devenir brutal, provoquant des chocs, des vibrations ou des contraintes structurelles \u2014 en particulier dans les \u00e9quipements de levage et de positionnement.<\/p>    <p>Dans l\u2019utilisation industrielle r\u00e9elle, \u00b5 n\u2019est pas un nombre fixe unique. C\u2019est pourquoi un comportement de friction stable dans toutes les conditions d\u2019exploitation est souvent plus important que le pic de friction.<\/p>    <p>Lors de la s\u00e9lection ou du remplacement des mat\u00e9riaux de friction, il faut faire correspondre la plage de \u00b5 con\u00e7ue pour le frein. Un lining de rechange \u00ab presque similaire \u00bb peut \u00eatre dangereux car de petites variations de \u00b5 peuvent produire de grandes diff\u00e9rences de couple.
