Using non-OEM linings or springs on overhead and gantry cranes introduces unpredictable braking behavior. A lining with a different friction coefficient can reduce holding torque (risking load drift) or increase torque abruptly (causing shock loads, gear stress, and unstable control). Differences in heat resistance can lead to faster glazing, brake fade, and shorter service life—especially in high-duty hoisting. Non-OEM linings may also accelerate wear of the brake wheel or disc, increasing total maintenance cost and downtime.
Springs are equally critical in fail-safe brakes. If spring force is incorrect, the brake may not reach designed torque, or it may not release properly with the existing actuator stroke, causing dragging and overheating. Beyond performance, non-OEM safety parts can complicate compliance, audits, and warranty claims. For safety-critical crane brakes, OEM-spec linings and springs provide controlled friction, validated torque, and predictable response—exactly what you need when personnel and high-value loads are at stake.
